...running in Massachusetts.
It's not that she doesn't seem progressive enough. In fact, she looks like a heck of a fighter. I should also mention that she has a lot going for her in a presidential-year where she will be very well-positioned to ride the President's coattails.
It's not the national and out-of-state Dems pushing her. Granted, that doesn't always work so well and with it being Massachusetts we have plenty of liberal talent throughout the Commonwealth.
Rather... it's about..
...her running from Harvard University. Not her trying to escape Harvard University, but her running for office as though Harvard University is her hometown. Sound strange? It shouldn't. Elizabeth Warren isn't from Massachusetts, and she's going to run against an incumbent with deep roots in the state. A state which, in case you didn't know, goes beyond the cities of Boston and Cambridge.
After the Martha Coakley debacle("why would I shake hands at Fenway Park?") I am really going to be pissed if we end up with another candidate who's clueless about the fner arts of retail politics.
If Elizabeth Warren is going to run she better try to out-Masshole Scott Brown.
That's not sarcasm.
She better know this state/commonwealth. She better know the local/state issues and not just the national issues. She better do plenty of traveling, plenty of campaigning, maybe drop by the Sam Adams brewery to win the endorsement of his ghost, maybe drop by the Harpoon brewery for the hell of it.. drop by every sporting event she can(Red Sox, Patriots*, Bruins, Celtics*, in that order assuming we have football and basketball next year). This isn't sarcasm. In the eyes of fellow Baystaters, she is mostly another Cambridge-transplant.
I appreciate all of the out-of-commonwealth opinion and efforts pouring in regarding Elizabeth Warren. Just don't fuck this up.
